 Are you looking for accommodation in
Northland, New Zealand, then the Riverhead Guesthouse in Horeke is the
ideal accommodation to explore the Far North. It is located at the
shore of the Hokianga Harbour. It's central location allows you to
explore the East Coast as well as the West Coast, reaching from Waitangi
(where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed) Russell, Opua, Paihia to the
West Coast or Hokianga from Waimamaku, Omapere, Opononi, Rawene to
Kohukohu. Also the towns of Kaikohe, Kerikeri, Okaihau as well as
Kaitaia, Ahipara and Awanui are quite close. And just around the corner
are the famous Wairere Boulders. |

Riverhead Guesthouse is also situated at the end or start of the "Pou
Herenga Tai Twin Coast Cycle Trail" sometimes called "Northland Coast to
Coast Cycle Trail" or "Twin Coast Cycle Trail" from Opua via Kawakawa,
Kaikohe, and Okaihau to Horeke connecting the Bay of Islands to the
Hokianga Harbour. If this is your ‘sport’ you have the perfect place to
rest after your adventure. You can clean your gear, we can store the
bike safely for you and you could enjoy our hospitality for a night or
two. In summer sit outside on the deck and look at the wonderful views
we have here. Walk across the road to New Zealand’s oldest pub (Horeke
Tavern) for a beer by the water. Or in the winter sit with a wine in
front of the fire and read about Horeke’s wonderful history. We could
even transport you and your bike to the ferry if required. |
Our
beautiful old style Kauri-Villa was originally built in Kaiwaka in 1871
and has been moved in 1979 from there to Horeke (the oldest settlement
in the Hokianga and second oldest settlement in New Zealand), where it
was beautifully restored, overlooking the harbour.

We
provide a continental breakfast and dinner is also available on request.
The top
floor has four rooms and a shared bathroom, small fridge and tea and
coffee making facilities. Perfect for a girls’ (or guys’) weekend
away.
We also
offer lunch and a tour of the house if your club would like to visit
($15 per head).
We
would love to have you join us for both rest and relaxation or help you
have an interesting journey back in time. There are two very friendly
little dogs to greet you on your arrival.
